The ingredients matter! We use fresh, local, and organic ingredients whenever possible. The exceptions are the rice, the pasta, and the saffron, which are brought in from Spain.
Tapas or Appetizers
Our standard tapas include:
Tortilla de Patatas – traditional Spanish omelet made with fresh eggs, diced potatoes, and sweet onions. Cut in diamond-shaped bite sized portions.
Plato de Jamon & Queso – A variety Spanish meats and cheese served with crackers, fresh baguette bread, dried fruits and Spanish olives.
Spanish Crostinis – Fresh crostinis topped with various types of Spanish cheeses and jams.
Spanish Almonds - Roasted Marcona almonds with sea salt.
Bruschettas – Fresh tomato and basil on baguette bread.
Main Dish
The main dish is traditionally served with a light mixed salad and a few slices of fresh baguette bread.
Paella Valenciana – “The Unlikely Spaniard” Style
This vibrant, colorful paella is the most popular and includes white and dark chicken, pork ribs, prawns, squid, clams, mussels, artichokes, and green beans. It’s the paella that made The Unlikely Spaniard famous.
Vegetarian Paella
The ingredients change with the vegetarian paella as we use what is fresh, local, and organic at the time of the event. Typical vegetarian paella includes brocolinni, artichokes, green beans, red bell peppers, orange bell peppers, garlic, tomatoes and leeks.
Fideua
Fideua is basically seafood paella, but instead of rice a short pasta (Fideo) is used. We use the same pan with a slight change to the ingredients; the ingredients include fish (the type varies depending on the time of year), prawns, squid, clams, mussels, artichokes, and green beans.
Desserts
Our desserts include:
Alfajores – Traditional Peruvian Pastry filled with dulce de leche and rolled in powdered sugar.
Coke Cake – A delicious chocolate flat cake served with vanilla ice cream. A family recipe from The Unlikely Spaniard.
Spanish Flan – Mami Nancy’s Historic Sweet Custard recipe made with caramelized sugar.
